Tenby's Mayor got to introduce an Olympic gold swimmer to the shorelines of the resort on Sunday, as American medallist Rebecca Soni visited the UK as part of the USA Olympic Committee's 'Britain Bound' tour ahead of next year's event in London.

Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett, met with Rebecca, who burst onto the international scene at the 2008 Summer Olympics where she won two silver medals and one gold, setting the world record in the 200m breaststroke, shocking Australian favourite Leisel Jones.

As part of her visit to Pembrokeshire, Rebecca also got to try her hand at coasteering in St. Davids.

After her visit to the county, Rebecca, who currently holds the world record in the 100 and 200m breaststroke (short course), tweeted on her Twitter profile:

"I'm loving the coast of Wales. How beautiful is this coastline? I'm ready to jump in! Wales was incredible!

"Talking with the Mayor of Tenby was one of the favourite parts of my day. I even got him to wear my gold medal."
