The following matters were among those considered at the meeting of the Martletwy Community Council held in Lawrenny on June 8.

Planning: The council resolved to offer no objections to an outline application for three building plots on land to the west of Rose Cottage, Martletwy. A proposal for the refurbishment and conversion of a long barn to provide three new three-bedroom houses at Home Farm, Lawrenny, was supported as an improvement to the appearance and amenity of the village. The council resolved to offer no representations on the 'alternative sites' for development suggested to the National Park Authority in response to its draft Deposit Local Development Plan, some of which were located around Lawrenny.

Highways matters: Members reported that the recently top-dressed surface of the roadway between Hoarstone and Tedion had begun to peel-off in the hot weather. This was to be brought to the attention of the Highway Authority.

Vacancy - Martletwy ward: Notice had been received from the county council that an election to fill the vacancy on the council had not been requested. In response to notices in the community, one expression of interest in filling the vacancy had been received by the date of the meeting and it was resolved that Mr. Michael Lewis, of Landshipping Farm, be appointed as co-opted member for the Martletwy ward with effect from the next meeting.

Next meeting: The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 6, at 7.30 pm, in Lawrenny Village Hall.
