The following matters were considered at the meeting of the Martletwy Community Council held in Lawrenny on June 9. Planning: The council supported a planning application for the temporary siting of a staff crèche facilities at Bluestone Leisure Park. Licensing: There were no observations or objections to new premises licence applications for 'Market Square', Dargavel's Wine Bar and Visitor Centre, the Sports Club, and The Well, all at Bluestone Leisure Park; and for the Lawrenny Arms, Lawrenny. Vacancies: Mr. Roger Rees and Mr. Frank Harbud were co-opted as members of the council to represent the Lawrenny ward, following the recent elections in which there had been no nominations. There had been one additional expression of interest in the vacancies for which members expressed their appreciation. Public payphone - Lawrenny: Members noted with regret the intention of BT to remove the public payphone in Lawrenny village, but were unable to dispute the claim that it was little used. Welsh Language Scheme: Members approved the draft scheme produced by Pembrokeshire Association of Local Councils as a first step in meeting their obligations under the Welsh Language Act 1993. Further consultations will take place before the council's approved scheme is submitted to the Welsh Language Board before the end of the year. Code of Conduct: The members received copies of the revised 'Code of Conduct for Members' adopted by the county council in May. Adoption of a Code of Conduct in some form is required by September 20, and it will be considered more fully at the next meeting before a decision is made. Next meeting: This will be held on Monday, July 7, at 7.30 pm in Lawrenny Village Hall.
