The following matters were considered at the January meeting of the Martletwy Community Council held last week in Lawrenny: Planning: There had been no objections in principle to proposals for alteration and extension to provide disabled facilities at Ivy Cottage, Coedcanlas, when considered at the October meeting, although questions of detail were raised. Amended plans had been received from the National Park Authority which did not meet concerns raised in relation to the height of the proposal. An application to remove the condition restricting conversion of hotel accommodation at the Lawrenny Arms to self-catering holiday use only, rather than permanent residential use (approved in June 2003), was deferred for more information. It was noted that an appeal against refusal of consent for a building for agricultural use on land opposite Cwm Deri Vineyard had been dismissed. It was agreed to draw to the attention of the National Park Authority the proliferation of vehicles and caravans dumped on former Forestry Commission land at Pryce Moor, Martletwy. Highways matters: It was agreed to request the county council investigate the provision of lighting at Cross Hands where children from Mounton View meet their school bus. Finance: Noting that the county council's estimate of the Council Tax base (band D) for 2005/6 was £263.08 (£232.48 for 2004/5), the council considered a statement provided by the clerk, and agreed to limit its precept requirement request for the forthcoming year to a three per cent increase to £2,317.50 from £2,250, and to review the clerk's salary and expenses. Next meeting: Monday, February 7, at 7.30 pm in Lawrenny Village Hall.
