The following matters were among those discussed at the October meeting of the Martletwy Community Council:
The council received a presentation on PLANED's 'Plugging the Leaks' initiative, and resolved to send representatives to the workshop on October 20.
The chairman welcomed new members, Mrs. S. Merriman and Mrs. G. Williams.
Planning: An update on the council's representations on the emerging Joint Unitary Development Plan was considered: one objection has been conditionally withdrawn, while four are maintained and will be considered by the Public Local Inquiry Inspector.
A report by the chairman on the National Park Committee meeting of September 29 highlighted that legal agreement had been reached on the removal of the Bluestone Village in the event of commercial failure, should consent be granted.
Highways matters: In response to a consultation from the county council, it was agreed to request the removal of the grassed triangle at The Anchorage, Landshipping, and the reinstatement of the road surface provided that the surrounding verges were not disturbed.
Action Plan: The council received a report from its chairman on the meeting organised by PLANED and the Community Association on October 2 to consider a draft of the Action Plan. A newsletter would be issued by the association shortly. There were divided opinions on the merits of a new 'community hall' for Martletwy, but the 'wish list' element of the Action Plan was felt to be potentially useful in supporting grant applications. The next meeting is on November 20 to consider a final draft.
