It was on the evening of Friday, September 19, that the event organised by the Carew and Cresswell Quay local committee for Cancer Research, began with a superb supper prepared by the ladies. Having chosen their food, there was time for a chat with friends and neighbours.
Then the raffle, always popular, was called. The prizes once again had all been generously donated. The first prize, a Tesco voucher, was won by Evelyn and Eliot Thomas. Mrs. David won the second prize of a Milton Farm Shop voucher.
Other prize winners were Auriol Brace (sparkling wine), Jean Smith (basked of fruit), Jean Jaques (tin of Quality Street), Evelyn and Eliot Thomas (towel bale), Dianne Griffiths (mugs and a tray), Ilse Lee (book token), Mr. Bennett (spring bulbs) and Bessie Arthur (coaster plaque).
The main part of the evening was, of course, the bingo, which had been eagerly anticipated.
It was soon in full swing, with Marjorie Davies as the caller. There were lines to be played for, followed by 'full house'. As the numbers rolled off her tongue, such as '57 Heinz variety', 'Kelly's eye number one', Marjorie steered the games to an exciting conclusion. Those lucky enough to win a line had boxes of chocolates and those winning a full house won bottles of wine.
These prizes had all been sponsored.
Again thanks go to the generous sponsors.
The total raised on the night was £333 and, with no expenses as it was held at Cresselly Cricket Club, this was all profit. Thank you to all who helped in any way and most of all to those who came to what turned out to be an enjoyable evening, and for your continued support.
