A group of family, friends and colleagues of a Tenby man who underwent a lifesaving operartion are competing in the Cardiff Half Marathon next month to raise funds for a hospital where he was treated.
The six runners are tackling the 13.1 mile in honour of Mike Tebbutt, supervisor at Tenby Ambulance Station, who had a new lease of life last year after a successful liver transplant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, the centre of excellence for liver disease.
Mike stunned doctors and nurses with his recovery and was allowed home just 10 days after his operation.
Since then Mike and his family, wife Ruth and daughters, Bethan and Rhiannon, have been keen to support the hospital and the British Liver Trust through fund-raising.
Now, Bethan and Rhiannon are among those donning their running shoes, along with Mike's colleagues, paramedic Gareth Jones and ambulance technician Sian Richards, and Nigel Prosser, a pharmacist with Boots, and Hannah Francis, a fitness instructor at Tenby Leisure Centre.
All six are busy training and collecting much-needed sponsorship for the race on Sunday, October 17.
Sponsorship can be pledged on forms at Fiveways Garage, Rembrandt, Country Kitchen and Loui's Baguette Shop.
Gareth, Bethan and Rhiannon also have Just Giving websites, namely justgiving.com/jonesy6474, justgiving.com/Rhiannon-Tebbutt and justgiving.com/Bethan-Tebbutt.
