Manorbier Under 15 Girls have reached yet another cup final by beating Garden Village of Swansea in the West Wales Cup.

Manorbier won the match 5-0 away to the Swansea side, with a dazzling display of free-flowing football; had it not been for some superb goalkeeping by Carys Davies in the Swansea goal, the goal tally could'have easily doubled.

Hannah Lewis, Angharad James and Mari Griffiths were on fine form in front of goal, each scoring great individual goals, while fullback Angharad Jenkins scored from her corner kick; a lucky goal some might say, but it does seem to be Angharad's speciality, having done the same on two previous occasions.

Manorbier continue to try and increase the numbers in their squad and any girls interested in joining should contact coaches Gerry Rigby on 07974831312 or Carrie Slack on 07815058276

Stacey nets nine!

With both Manorbier Ladies and Clarbeston Road looking for their first league win of the season, a closely fought battle was anticipated.

In the event, it was very much a one-sided affair, with Manorbier gaining a more than comfortable 14-1 win.

Manorbier opened the scoring in the seventh minute, with a goal from their captain Carrie Slack. Stacey John added four more to give the visitors a 5-0 lead, with Clarbeston Road pulling one back just before half-time.

The second half started much the same as the first, with Slack opening the scoring. Stacey John increased her tally to an amazing nine for the day, and with singles from Joeleen Lewis, Bethan Roberts and one own goal, the visitors secured a comfortable 14-1 victory.

Manorbier travel away to newcomers Pontardawe for the next fixture on Sunday at 2 pm.

Seven in Welsh Development Squad

Seven of the Manorbier Girls Under 15s team were called up for the Welsh development squad training day at Trefforest last week.

Molly Furnival-Doran, Hannah Lewis, Hayley Lewis, Angharad James, Angharad Jenkins, Ffion Ashman and Mari Griffiths all spent the day being trained and assessed by the development coaches with a view to gaining full international honours in the future.

Coach Gerry Rigby said: "This is a just reward for these girls who have worked incredibly hard over the past few seasons. Some have been part of the development squad for a couple of years, but it's great seeing some of the other players now stepping up to the mark, and there are even more knocking on the door; it's a tribute to what this team has achieved over the years. We've had three girls get full international honours from our set-up and I'm confident that there will be more to follow from this group of girls in the future."
