A 48-year-old man charged with the murder of his elderly mother was said to be "very unwell" this week.

Jarvis Ford is awaiting trial accused of killing Margaret Ford, aged 84, by stabbing her nine times.

Progress in the case was discussed at Swansea crown court on Wednesday when Judge John Diehl said he understood Mr. Ford was "very unwell."

The court heard the family had moved from the West Midlands to live in Templeton, near Narberth, two years ago.

After an incident at their home on May 18, Ford's sister was alerted and police went to the house, where they found Mrs. Ford's body lying on the kitchen floor.

Ford has yet to enter a plea to a charge of murder.

Judge Diehl said a plea and case management hearing would take place on August 7.

Ford was further remanded in custody.
