National Grid Electricity Distribution has partnered with Bluestone National Park Resort to complete a significant private electricity infrastructure project, which they state will enhance energy reliability and support long-term growth in Pembrokeshire.

The project involved connecting Bluestone’s private electricity network, a vital step in strengthening the resort’s energy resilience and enabling future expansion. This behind-the-scenes work ensures that Bluestone can continue to deliver high-quality experiences to visitors while supporting local employment and economic development.

Dave Wells, Contracting Services Manager for National Grid Electricity Distribution, said: "We’re proud to support businesses like Bluestone with the infrastructure they need to thrive. Our work powers the lives of millions across South and West Wales and beyond, and this project reflects our commitment to delivering secure, affordable, and reliable energy to the communities we serve."

Marten Lewis, Director of Sustainability for Bluestone National Park Resort, said: "This infrastructure upgrade is a major milestone for Bluestone. National Grid Electricity Distribution’s support has helped us build a more robust energy network, which is essential for our growth and for creating new employment opportunities for people in Pembrokeshire."

As part of the collaboration, National Grid Electricity Distribution helped Bluestone which is located near Narberth, with the connection of approximately 3.2MW generation capacity into the resort’s private electricity network. This means the solar energy generated on-site can be used to power parts of the resort, reducing reliance on external electricity sources.

This integration strengthens Bluestone’s energy resilience, allowing the resort to better manage its energy use and support future expansion.

The behind-the-scenes work ensures that Bluestone can continue delivering high-quality experiences to visitors while supporting local employment and economic development.

National Grid operates the electricity transmission network in England and Wales and is the distribution network operator for the Midlands, South West England and South Wales.
