Cath Ircha was a very special person. For over 20 years she worked alongside Club Manager Tony Griffiths at Pembroke Power Station Sports and Social Club and was loved by everyone.

She was only in her early forties when she was diagnosed with breast cancer but she went through all her treatment with dignity even managing to raise £1,000 for the charity Breast Cancer Now.

Cruelly the disease returned after a couple of years and she sadly lost her battle at the tender age of 46.

During her treatment and final days she was cared for expertly and tenderly by the wonderful staff on Ward 10 of Withybush Hospital, so by way of thanks Tony decided to hold an event to raise funds for them.

The Ice Bucket challenge was arranged and to show how much Cath was loved by the members over 20 people signed up to take part raising a magnificent £7,000 which for a small club was no mean achievement.

A presentation evening in the Club was held recently where the cheque was presented to some of the staff from the ward and it was stipulated that the money should be used to buy something in her name.

The ward are purchasing six day beds as they are developing an outside area where patients can get some fresh air and sun with plants etc. to make it pleasant surroundings.

Cath will always be fondly remembered by everyone in the club and it is hoped to hold more fundraising events in the future.
