Luminita Berariu has become a regular on West Wales' musical scene and is back from Bucharest this October for the 12th year running, to conduct another new series of free musical training workshops for singers and pianists.

These workshops are only made possible due to the support given by grants from Arts Council Wales and Pembrokeshire County Council. Places are limited and so early booking is essential. Do this by ringing 'Friends of the Classics' on (01834) 842523.

Musicians joining these workshops bring a prepared piece of music which they play or sing before fellow performers and members of the public (who are welcome as observers).

Luminita then works on the piece, with them suggesting what might be done to enhance it. People attending in previous years have commented on the immediate improvement apparent in the process - especially so much in such a relatively short space of time.

Luminita is highly experienced in both fields; she is the senior repetitateur at the Romanian State Opera in Bucharest, as well as being a solo pianist, chamber music performer; giving regular recitals on State Radio and in the capital's main concert halls.

She has played in The States, the Far East, North Africa and in many of the major capitals of Europe; nearer to home, she has always been warmly received by audiences at the Tenby Arts Festival, Lampeter House and Rhosygilwen.

Do come, it's free, educational and fun. Workshop venues are: Tenby - Wednesday, October 14; Carmarthen Operatic Society - Wednesday, October 21; Rhosygilwen, Rhoshill - Sunday, October 18; Haverfordwest Operatic Society - Monday, October 26.

Ring the above number for fuller information. The workshops are open to all pianists and vocalists of any age or ability.
