The Pembroke committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief held their annual general meeting at the Holyland Hotel, Pembroke. Following the reports of chairman, Sylvia Davies, and treasurer, Bob Butterworth, president Dilys Hanmer took the chair for the election of the following hon. officers for the forthcoming year: chairman - Margaret Beckett; secretary - Auriol Scourfield; treasurer - Bob Butterworth; press secretary - Joan Bell. It was reported that 2004/5 had been a good year for the committee, during which over £32,000 had been raised to further the work of Macmillan in the area. A total of £727 had been raised at the Pancake Day coffee morning in February and a cheque for £423 had been received from the hardy folk who took part in the Boxing Day Swim at Tenby; also many other donations had been received, for which the committee was very grateful. Arrangements were finalised for the Spring Coffee Morning to be held at Pembroke Town Hall today (Friday), from 10 am to 12 noon. There will be all the usual stalls, including home-made cakes, produce and jams, as well as collectables, raffles and an April Fool Bran Tub.
