A remarkable 40 years dedicated service to the NSPCC was recognised at last month's annual meeting of the Pembrokeshire branch when retiring Saundersfoot committee treasurer, Mr. Gwynfor Davies, was presented with a loyal service certificate by the chairman, Rev. Canon Michael Butler.
Mr. Davies said that he came to Saundersfoot in January 1967 and by October that year he found himself on the committee.
His retirement comes as the Tenby and Saundersfoot committees have merged to maximise the skills and talents of the area.
On behalf of the treasurer, Mr. Arthur Chapman, the Community Appeals manager Julie Richards was able to report a successful year, during which the branch and committees of the county had raised more than £20,000
In addition, the Pembrokeshire Junior Schools had brought in over £7,000 and, through the work of the NSPCC Schools Awareness Department, these young people had also learned of the work of the NSPCC and the support that was available to them.
The guest speaker was Sian Griffiths, of the Children's Advocacy and Representation Service, whose district covers the whole of South Wales.
