Sir, I have just returned from my daily walk, down past the sportsfield in Penally, across the bypass, across the field and golf course to the railway bridge by Kiln Park, which is used by the holidaymakers from that site to get to the beach. Crossing the bridge, I counted 17 items of discarded rubbish, bottles, cans, wrappers and even clothing. Surely the site owners, who use the pedestrian access to the beach as a selling point, must take some responsibility for cleaning this path, perhaps twice a week; and maybe placing and emptying a few bins along the path would help. Unenforcable threatening notices of a £50 fine for dropping litter could also help.

John Tapley,

Hillside, Penally.
