Think of the 1st Tenby Sea Scout Group and the name Mo Crockford is almost synomous with it.

So it is not surprising that Mo, current group Scout leader and Cub leader, has been presented with a long service award.

Mo first became involved with the movement in September 1967 when she was recruited as a volunteer by Mrs. Merrony.

She has since helped and run the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups, becoming a well-known figure throughout the county.

"I have really enjoyed my time with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and it's wonderful to see the children develop their confidence," she said this week.

But Mo says she has not been able to do her job as leader without the help and support of parents and leaders.

"It is a team effort," she said.

But Mo is now appealing for new volunteers to come forward.

"Whilst I would still like to be involved in Scouting in Tenby, I feel the time is coming to take a little step back and I am hoping people will come forward to train as leaders to enable me to do that," she added.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can contact her on 842136.

Mo is seen right receiving her award from County Commissioner, Sue Benbow.
