The Long Course Weekend got off to an exhilarating start tonight with the Zone3 Wales Swim.
The race, consisting of a 1.2 or 2.4 miles swim, held on Tenby’s North Beach has grown to be one of Wales’ biggest open water swimming events.
Many athletes across the UK, as well as from overseas, include the swim as a great get-away race in the season, taking in the amazing scenery of one of the resort’s blue flag beaches, and the electric atmosphere.
The evening got underway at 5 pm with the Folly Farm Taff Kids swim event, where hundreds of children aged between 4 and 11, took part.
Tomorrow (Saturday) will see the cycling event take place with the riders departing at 7 am, and the first finishers due into Tudor Square at around 1 pm, whilst Sunday sees runners take on the marathon runs.
The marathon and 5 k will start and end in Tenby’s Tudor Square.
Pick up a copy of this week’s Tenby Observer for a full race schedule, including road closure information.
