Long Course Weekend has renewed its partnership with Hywel Dda Health Charities, for anoher three years, continuing its mission to raise funds for the NHS in Wales.
Dedicated to enhancing the experiences of NHS patients, service users, and staff across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion, Hywel Dda Health Charities will be offering supporters exclusive free spaces as part of the partnership.
Since the partnership started in 2022, Long Course Weekend athletes and Hywel Dda Health Charities fundraisers have raised nearly £50,000, helping to fund projects, equipment and services that make a real difference across our local hospitals and communities.
Matthew Evans, CEO of Long Course Weekend, said: “Long Course Weekend has always been about more than sport - it’s about people, community and pride in Pembrokeshire. The event generates over £20 million in economic impact each year, engages 55 schools through our Legacy and Learn to Swim programmes, and raises essential funds for charities that need our support now more than ever.
“We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside Hywel Dda Health Charities for another three years, celebrating the power of sport to bring people together and to give back to those who care for us when we need it most.”
The partnership reinforces Long Course Weekend’s ongoing commitment to community impact, athlete well-being and the health of Wales.
Tara Nickerson, Fundraising Manager at Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to partner with Long Course Weekend Wales for the coming three years. We’ve been the Powered By partner for four years, and it’s been inspiring to see a growing number of entrants choosing to support their local NHS through fundraising.”
Following another successful Long Course Weekend - it was confirmed back in the summer that the event organised by Activity Wales Events, will continue to take place in Tenby and its surrounding area for the next five years, with a host agreement in place with the organisers and Pembrokeshire County Council.
The Local Authority said that it was looking to ontinuing to support an event which links to PCC’s Major Events Strategy and continues to support the tourism, economic and the associated benefits surrounding the event through visitor, participant and spectator contributions to the local economy.
Thousands took part in the sporting triathlon over the weekend of June 27-29, with the spectacular swim event on Friday evening kicking proceedings off once again on Tenby’s North Beach; followed by the cycling event on Saturday; and then the turn of the marathon runners on Sunday.
Long Course Weekend Wales 2026 runs from June 26 to 28. As part of this exclusive partnership, Hywel Dda Health Charities is offering a limited number of free spaces in the swim, cycle and run events for fundraisers which are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Whether you're a seasoned athlete or taking on your first challenge, this is a fantastic opportunity to support your local NHS while being part of something truly special.
