NINE teenagers, each after a taste of adventure and a career that will take them around the world, have enlisted at the Haverfordwest Army Careers Information Office.
All guaranteed to be trained to a standard unmatched by any other profession, Jemma King from Crymych and Ben Skinner from Haverfordwest are set to join the Intelligence Corps, while fellow enlistees, Sam Winkless from Pembroke Dock, David James, also from Pembroke Dock, Tenby teenager, Jo Glanville, and Ben Loughlin from Milford Haven, will all become members of the Royal Regiment of Wales.
Making their way to join the Royal Corps of Signals will be Sean Beech from Tenby and James Owen from Haverfordwest. Mike Davies from Pembroke Dock has chosen to pursue a career with the Royal Logistics Corps.
The first stage for each of the new recruits will be Phase 1 training, which will provide each of them with the skills common to all soldiers and help build up fitness levels, strength and stamina.
Sergeant Barry John, Army recruiter, said they had all made excellent choices.
"It's great to have so many youngsters enlist on the same day and I know that they are all looking forward to the start of their Army careers," he said.
"We've had great success in terms of our recruiting figures during the last year and I'm sure that's because youngsters such as these are realising that the Army can offer a mix of training, travel and excitement that cannot be rivalled. I wish all nine every success for the future."
