The 30-week performance based course was run at Trinity College, Carmarthen, and generated a buzz around the streets of Carmarthen where some of the scenes were filmed.
The course, run by HTV Wales, also had groups set up in Merthyr Tydfil, the Rhondda and Neath. After the success of the Welsh soap 'Nuts and Bolts, the course was set up and designed to gather 'Welsh' talent, and 50 per cent of actors in the programme have come from the 'Nuts and Bolts' experience.
Antony Smith, casting director for HTV, said: "There is too much Welsh talent waiting to be found and we want to give people the chance to perform."
The aim of the course is to produce a 30-minute short film based on a script that you develop within your group.
Finding a story to cater for 15 was not an easy task, but the group soon got into their roles for 'Queens', a comical short story focussing on the 18th birthday party of Gryff, a lad coming to terms with his homosexuality.
In the film, Vicky Hemmingway, known for some great performances in the Tenby Players, played 'Alex', the concerned best friend of Gryff. Sian and Tessa formed part of a rock band who play at Gryff's party.
Sian, who played moody band member 'Siwan', said: "I think I've been put off working in television for life. With early starts, late finishes, very cold weather and lots of hanging around, working in television is far from glamorous.
"However, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have learned a lot. You do not realise how much work goes on on a real set and I think the whole group would agree that they have all had an informative and exciting experience."
Tessa, who played aggressive band member 'Paula', was doubtful as to whether she could complete the course when she found out she was expecting earlier in the year. However, on day two of filming, two-week-old 'Albee' was on set to support mum.
Being on set was not so new to Tessa, as she actually appeared in an episode of 'Nuts and Bolts', which came out on our screens last September.
Around half-a-dozen of the Carmarthen group were lucky enough to get parts in series three and, including Vicky, it is hoped that more local people will get the opportunity to have parts.
Not only did the HTV film crew invade the streets of Carmarthen, but they also paid a visit to Whitland. Fellow group member Gwyn Evans nominated that they use his garage for the opening scene of the film and 20 takes later in a cold garage at 1 Trevaughan Lodge Road, Gwyn was pleased to say: "This is the second time a film crew has visited my house. Previously, HTV's 'Sharp End' came to Whitland to see me. It is always exciting to have a film crew at your house, with a kitchen full of actors and technicians waiting for coffee, and I hope I get the opportunity to entertain another film crew in the future."
Gwyn, who has appeared in Casualty, Pobol Y Cwm and made many other television appearances, played eccentric character Clive in the film.
The film, which will be screened later this year at local film festivals and predominantly the Cardiff Film Festival, is also currently being discussed by BAFTA who say they are interested in viewing the short films.
Those involved with production from HTV said: "Everyone worked extremely hard and they are really pleased with the end product. Everyone deserves to be congratulated."
