Tight tussles were the order of the day in division one with a number of games going down to the wire yet none were as dramatic as the game that took place between Hakin United and Tenby.

The homeside are the favourites of many to go on and win the league given their form of late yet Tenby have lofty ambitions of their own and this was shown to the full at the Obs.

It's rare that Hakin concede three at home let alone in the first 20 minutes yet that's what happened as Mike Boswell caused the home defence enough problems to score twice and Mike Beynon the other as the shell shocked homesters were put to the sword.

Had Declan Carroll's rasping shot not flew off the woodwork then the visitors would have taken a 4-0 lead but his 25 yard effort was in vain and it was the home side that scored next making it 3-1 at half-time.

Despite their efforts, Hakin's superior fitness told as they eventually ground the visitors into the heavy turf and three more goals in the second half sealed a memorable comeback and an essential win.

"For the neutral it was a great game of football," said visiting manager Mike Lewis. "They couldn't get near us for the first 20 minutes, but probably over the 90 minutes they deserved the win and we've just got to pick ourselves up for the rest of the season."

One bright spot for Tenby was the form shown by the returning Callum Proctor. The talented youngster suffered a horrific injury earlier in the season and his comeback was a great fillip for the Seasiders in the run in to the campaign.

Heavy downpours during the week resulted in the eagerly awaiting clash between Kilgetty and Narberth being postponed as the Kingsmoor pitch was too wet to accommodate the game.

With both sides struggling at the lower end of the division one table the match would have been the proverbial six-pointer, especially for Narberth as they sit uncomfortably just above the drop zone.

Fortunately for the Bluebirds, results over the weekend went their way which means they didn't lose too much ground on those around them.

Saundersfoot Sports let a 1-0 interval lead slip as their away clash at Angle ended in a 1-1 draw.

Andrew Spencer's team produced a wonderful first half display to take a deserved lead through a Nicky Cope goal yet they overcomplicated their game plan in the second to allow the homeside back in.

"I guess it was a fair result in the end," said Spencer. "We were good in the first half and abysmal in the second but the boys didn't keep it simple and that's what cost us in the end."

Carew's great form continues as they won 2-0 away at Prendergast Villa. An Ian Sefton goal in the first half and an own goal that stemmed from a Sefton shot that ricocheted from the cross bar on to a home player were enough to seal the points for Barry Evans' men. Evans was understandably delighted by the result.

"The pitch wasn't conducive to playing football and took a bit of getting used to but we came away with the win which is what we wanted. We've got a tough game coming up against Lamphey on Saturday and this result will give us confidence for that."

Pendine's woes in division two continue as they travelled to Letterston and lost 2-0. The Gulls are still second from bottom despite having games in hand yet if results continue to go against them they will be playing catch up come the mid-week madness that affects all teams at the end of the season.

Playing down the slope in the first half, they held the home side at 0-0 going in to the break yet two goals mid-way through the half put paid to any points going back with them.

Manager Frank Roberts said the homeside were worthy winners.

"It was very similar to last week really. We created a few chances, but didn't put them away, but they were a determined side and deserved to win the game."

St. Clears are still rooted to the foot of the table yet manager Charlie Smith believes they will give themselves a chance of staying up providing they are able to repeat this week's performance against St. Ishmaels.

The Saints may have lost 1-0 but Smith said it was a much improved display over last week's loss at Angle.

"It was a good game on a heavy pitch and we were unlucky not to get something from it, but we probably didn't create enough really.

"In saying that it was a massive improvement on the week before and if we can do that for the rest of the season we'll give ourselves a fighting chance."

The game was tied 0-0 at the break yet a scrambled goal mid-way through the half secured the points for the home side.

Narberth seconds made the trip to Manorbier with a strengthened squad and came away with a hard fought 4-2 win.

Julian Blewitt and Tony Evans shared the goals for the visitors as they both scored in each half to secure the points for Adrian Howells and his men.

"It was a very hard game," said the player manager. "It was quite a soft pitch and they were a young, fit side so they ran all-day and made it hard for us but we produced a good team performance and it's nice to have three points in the bag."

Lawrenny had an excellent away win at Pembroke Boro as they won 3-1. Tom Lewis, Joe Kidney and Owen James were all among the goals as the visitors came away with a deserved victory.

Not such good news for Tenby seconds however as they lost 6-2 at home to Hakin United. Mo Safin and Jimmy Thomas gave the homeside hope, yet the impressive visitors had too much fire power on the day.

Carew seconds are in to the semi-finals of the division four cup as they defeated St. Ishmaels 4-0.

Tom Richards, Rhys Davies, Ceri Brace and Jonny Lammin scored the goals for the homeside making it a day to remember for the club.

The league game between Saundersfoot seconds and Prendergast Villa was postponed yet Kilgetty seconds made the short trip to St. Florence for their division four derby clash and what a clash it turned out to be. The homeside ended up 4-3 winners in a game that belied the wet conditions.

A Ben Jones strike and a Josh Bevan brace wasn't quite enough to secure any points for the visitors as the home side celebrated thanks to a Scott Smith brace and goals by Andrew Nicholas and Jamie Roberts.

Two goals by Tom Mills secured a 2-2 draw for Lawrenny seconds against their Fishguard counterparts while St. Clears seconds entertained Cosheston Cougars' reserves and lost 4-2 despite two goals by super striker Simon Bancroft.
