Kilgetty's miserable start to the season continued on Saturday when they went down to their fifth defeat in five at home to Solva.

After avoiding relegation last season following a strong finish to the campaign, the Kingsmoor outfit will have to dig deep again if they are to avoid a similar battle this year.

If any positives were to come from their 9-3 defeat, it was the fact they scored three goals, which proves they are capable of finding the back of the net, but in conceding nine, their defensive play will have to be addressed.

Rhys Hewson, Owen Griffiths and a penalty from David Jones were the only highlights in a less than satisfactory campaign thus far.

Narberth fared much better, thoug,h as they ran out 5-2 winners at home against Pennar Robins, despite having to field a weakened team through unavailability and injury.

Manager Nigel Thomas described the win as 'superb', adding that the team 'played really well under the circumstances.'

One such circumstance was the issue of the visitors having a player sent-off in the second half, but by then the Bluebirds were already 3-1 up thanks to a scrambled goal by Jordan Williams and a powerful header by Adi Jones.

Williams added another soon after, before the Robins hit back just before the break.

A penalty by Williams early in the second confirmed the home team's dominance as the visitors suffered the ignominy of conceding an own goal just before they scored a consolation at the end.

Tenby have endured mixed fortunes thus far and Saturday was no exception, although manager Mike Lewis believes the 1-1 draw away at Haverfordwest County was a fair result.

A first half goal by Mike Beynon gave Tenby the lead going into the break, although the home team equalised 10 minutes into the second half. Mike Boswell had two chances to win the game for the Seasiders, yet failed to take them and both teams had to settle for a share of the points.

"We've played some tough teams already so far," said Lewis. "Overall it was a fair result as we didn't quite do enough to break them down. They're a good side, mind you, and had Jake Roberts not pulled off some good saves, we may have lost the game."

St. Clears' stuttering start to the season continued away at Lamphey as they ended up sharing the points following a 2-2 draw.

With star striker Eddie Wiggins and a raft of other players leaving the club for other teams or further education, the Saints are a shadow of the side they were last season, yet manager Charlie Smith isn't perturbed by the situation.

"It gives an opportunity to others to show what they can do and the draw at Lamphey proves we can compete despite the departures.

"A draw was a fair result as both sides created chances, with Colin Reynolds deserving praise for the way he performed in goal."

Lamphey took the lead after 30 minutes, before Andrew McCabe equalled matters heading into the break.

The home team broke away mid-way through the second to score, yet their lead was short-lived as McCabe toe-poked one in following a corner to seal the draw and a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Pendine were unable to play after the curse of the waterlogged pitch returned following heavy rain during the week.

Saundersfoot Sports lost 1-0 away at Goodwick United Seconds, despite dominating the game. The visitors had a plethora of chances to win the game, but a lack of composure in front of goal finally took its toll as the home side scored in the second.

New manager Andrew Spencer was naturally disappointed by the result.

"It's frustrating. We had so many chances to win that game, but just didn't take them. This is one of the strongest squads we've had in years and I believe we'll get going soon enough."

Carew faced a tough challenge away at Monkton and lost 3-1 in a hard fought encounter. Adam Hughes got the only goal for the visitors as the home side continued their good start to the campaign.

In Division Three, Narberth Seconds earned a 5-1 win away at Solva, despite going there with a bare 11.

Player manager Mark O'Sullivan led the rout with four goals as Aaron Keane got the ball rolling with an early strike in the first half.

At Broad Haven, two goals by classy midfielder Robbie Thomas were enough for Manorbier United to gain a 2-2 draw away from home.

Lawrenny, meanwhile, had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Hakin United as Dean Morris got the all-important goal for the visitors.

Kilgetty Seconds went down to a 2-1 defeat at high-flying St. Ishmaels in Division Four as Andy Lewis grabbed the visitors' goal. Carew Seconds shared the spoils with Milford United Seconds as the game ended 1-1, while St Florence went down 2-1 away at Fishguard, despite Steve Smith's strike.

Saundersfoot Sports' Seconds lost out in a high scoring game at home against Monkton Swifts' reserves as the game ended 5-3 to the visitors. Grant Hardy scored yet again for the home team, with Adam Roberts and Jack Shinner grabbing the others

In Division Five, St. Clears' reserves snuck a 2-1 win at home against Neyland.

The Saints took the points with a gutsy performance as Tom Harrington and Jason Owen scored the goals.

Finally, Lawrenny Seconds had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Letterston, with Conrad Mandiki scoring for the home side with just 10 minutes to go. Manager John Beff admitted his team were lucky to draw, although they could easily have won it.

"It was a strange game really. We had most of the play, but they scored from a counter-attack and from there on in we were on the backfoot. We deserved a draw, but we could easily have lost it, but we also could have won."
