Of all the teams you least want to face when you are struggling for form, Hakin United have to be one of them and this fate befell Carew on Saturday.
Given their lack of confidence thus far, it was no surprise they lost, but to only concede two goals will have given them some form of confidence even in defeat.
At the other end of the spectrum, in Division Two, Tenby keep on winning and in travelling to Fishguard Sports they didn't disappoint their manager as they won 4-0.
The hugely talented Scott McGlaughlin is back in the ranks after a spell playing rugby and showed his class with a well taken brace, while the other goals were scored by Sam Christopher and Tom Merion.
Pendine came away from Johnston with a share of the spoils after drawing 2-2 with the Tigers. They left it late to seal their point as they scored from a penalty with the last kick of the game, Carl Chapman striking home the re-bound.
Ricky Hunt scored the Seagulls' first goal in the first half after Johnston had sneaked ahead thanks to a penalty, with their second coming after the break.
Saundersfoot Sports continue to impress and player/manager Danny Caine was delighted with their 5-1 away win at Letterston.
"It was a good performance all-round really, although it was quite jittery early on in the second half, but after the third went in, their heads dropped and we pulled ahead."
The visitors were 2-1 up at the break, with Caine grabbing the first and Russell Evans the second with a magnificent 35-yard strike. Evans then got in on the act again by hitting home the third, before James Caine nipped in with the fourth and Danny Caine the fifth with a penalty.
Manorbier United won a close encounter at home against Angle 4-3, a much-needed result given their lack of form this season. The United goals were shared around, with Mike Ryder, James Hall, Ashley Murdoch and Owen Evans all hitting the back of the net.
In Division Three, St. Florence won a yo-yo game away at Lamphey 5-4. For the neutral observer, it was a memorable game to watch, although the result was deserved as the Saints were on top throughout.
Narberth seconds lost 7-1 away at Pennar Robins, Tony Evans scoring the solitary Bluebirds goal, while Lawrenny lost 2-0 away at Solva against their reserves, with Neil Jolly saying the final touch let them down.
"We had our chances to score, but didn't take them. We started off well, but they scored two quick goals and that knocked us back a bit."
In Division Four, Kilgetty drew 2-2 with Johnston Seconds as they let slip a 2-0 interval lead, with the goals being scored by Ryan Howell and Richard Cope.
But a lack of concentration in the second cost them, as Johnston came back with two of their own to share the points, much to new manager Chris Griffiths's dismay.
"I think we deserved to win as we definitely played the better football. We had a goal disallowed in the second and they went straight up the field to score. That would have put us 3-1 up with not long left, but that's football for you, you just have to accept these things."
Carew Seconds lost 2-0 away at Milford Athletic, while Saundersfoot reserves had a fantastic win at home against their counterparts from St Ishmaels, winning 8-1. Grant Hardy led the way with the first, with other goals coming from Paul Evans, Scott Davison (2), Richard Rossiter, Carl Wainwright, Tom Spencer and Peter Rattenbury.
In Division Five, Lawrenny Seconds had a good win at home against Haverfordwest Cricket Club, winning 3-0. Andrew Cole scored two brilliant goals, with the other coming from John Beff in an all-conquering display.
Pendine reserves lost 11-1 at home against West Dragons, while St. Clears had a narrow defeat at home against Letterston, finally going down 4-3 after two goals from Simon Bancroft and one from Neil Thompson.
"It was a lack of concentration that cost us," said Lloyd Evans. "We were on a par with them really and should have got something from it, but our defence let us down a bit, although our attacking play was fine."
Tenby Seconds had a good win against Hundleton, with a 3-0 result at home. A goal apiece by Alun Morgan and Marcus Lyons put them 2-0 up at the break, with Mo Safin grabbing the third in the second half in a dominant display.
Meanwhile, Kilgetty bombed out of the West Wales Cup following a 3-1 defeat away at Caebryn. An early goal by Nick Cope made it look as though the visitors were cruising, but three goals in eight first half minutes cost them the chance of progression and a future in the competition.
