Carew haven't enjoyed the best of starts to the new season, having lost all but one of their games thus far and only being able to gather a point from the other. As a result, they are languishing at the foot of Division One. Had they won against Narberth, they would have climbed to mid-table and win they so nearly did.

At the final whistle, the score was 3-2 in Narberth's favour, although it took a fine free-kick by Richie Adams to snare them the extra points after an 82nd minute goal by Carew's Wayne Cannon gave the home side a sniff of victory.

Narberth had the better of the first half and deserved their 1-0 lead at half-time when Jordan Williams scored after a mere seven minutes. The game levelled out slightly after this, although Carew rarely threatened the visitors' goal.

Richard Bullock equalised for Carew following a bright start to the second half, before Tony Evans regained the lead for Narberth with a well-taken score. A period of stalemate ensued and a Narberth win looked likely until Cannon fired one in, but a few minutes later, Adams stepped up to the plate and finished the game off in style.

If Carew's start has been disappointing, then Kilgetty's return to the top flight has been nothing short of spectacular, especially their last game against last year's champions Merlins Bridge when they won 4-1 at home; sadly they couldn't continue this fine run as Pennar Robins beat them 3-0 following a fine display of football.

"We were terrible really," admitted star striker Nick Cope. "We have managed to win games we didn't really expect to and lose one we felt we could have got something from, but that's first division football for you. It's not going to be easy."

Saturday was far from easy as Pennar took control of the game from the start and led 1-0 at the interval. Kilgetty conceded a penalty early in the second to make it 2-0, before Wayne Brunton finished the game off with a third towards the end of the match.

Kilgetty will be hoping to put things right on Saturday when they play Clarbeston Road.

In Division Two, Manorbier's indifferent start continues as they lost 6-0 away at Camrose, while Pendine were on the wrong end of a 10-1 result at Milford United; Justin Blewitt the sole goal scorer for the Seagulls.

It was a good day for Saundersfoot, however, as they entertained Letterston and won 3-0.

"It was a comfortable win," said James Caine. "We were in control throughout and played some good football. We created chances and put them away."

The home team made a solid start to the game and took the lead when Danny Caine latched on to a long throw to put the ball away.

James Caine added a second after the break, before the youngest of the Caine brothers finished the game off with a penalty after a visiting player handled the ball in the box.

Meanwhile, Saundersfoot's neighbours and possible rivals for promotion, Tenby, beat Pembroke Boro 4-2 at home, with Welsh international Callum Proctor netting twice to go alongside goals from James Buckle and Sam Christopher.

Lawrenny had a good win away at Lamphey, securing the points with a 2-1 result, even though they were 1-0 down at half-time.

They pulled the game back with goals from Mike Jolly and a penalty by Mike Beynon, who looked head and shoulders above the rest, despite his diminutive stature.

Narberth seconds missed a chance to climb up the Division Three table after they narrowly lost 4-3 at home against their counterparts from Solva. Paul Phillips was called out of retirement to run the side for the afternoon as they haven't got a manager at present and his experience nearly told with a win, but Solva were just slightly better on the day.

Narberth's first goal came courtesy of an own goal by the opposition, before Ben Quartermaine and Jason Jones gave the Bluebirds a sniff. Sadly it wasn't to be.

St. Clears have made a bright and breezy start to the new campaign in Division Three and sit proudly on top of the league having secured their third win out of three with a 3-1 win over Hubberston.

"It was an excellent win," said last year's manager Mark Snelling. "We created loads of opportunities and Hubberston created virtually none. It's been a great start to the season."

The Saints had to recover from being a goal behind early in the first, but 'Mr Consistent', Eddie Wiggins, restored the balance with a goal before halftime.

He extended the lead early in the second, before Gareth Griffiths finished the game off with a great goal towards the end.

St. Florence had a remarkable win at home against Merlins Bridge's second team. Now that the league structure has changed, many teams were concerned about what threat the Wizards' second string would have posed for small village clubs, but on this showing there is nothing to worry about. St. Florence beat them 11-0, with Scott Smith scoring five and Mark Rees and James Thomas two apiece. Liam Culshaw and Paul Davies both added to the scoreline with a goal apiece.

Saundersfoot Seconds endured a miserable day away at Herbrandston in Division Four losing 4-0, while Kilgetty's second string also struggled, losing 8-1 at home against Clarbeston Road.

It was a better afternoon for Carew's second team, however, as they travelled to Neyland and came away with a 3-0 victory, thanks to goals by Sam Harts, Huw Evans and Rhys Davies.

Meanwhile, in Division Five, Tenby Seconds lost 4-2 away at Hubberston, while Lawrenny won 2-1 at home against Hundleton, thanks to goals by Owen James and Ian Jenkins.

St. Clears Seconds were without a game, although Pendine lost 4-1 at home against Haverfordwest Cricket Club, Teged Edwards grabbing the only goal for the Gulls.
