Senior Cup - round two

Broad Haven 1 Carew 4

Carew are through to the next round of the Senior Cup after easing through their round two tie against Broad Haven. Playing teams a division or two below you is never easy as they are an unknown quantity, although Carew negotiated their way through this potential banana skin with ease. A James Buckle brace and goals from Ian Sefton and Nielson Cole were all that was needed to avoid the ignominy of losing to a team in a lesser division and in all honesty, it should have been more. Sefton and Buckle scored within the first 10 minutes, not long before the former was forced to leave the field with an injury. Despite Carew's dominance, no further goals were forthcoming, although the home side pulled one back via a breakaway. Buckle added his second 20 minutes into the second half, before Nielson Cole wrapped it up with a fine finish at the end.

Division One

Narberth 3 St. Ishmaels 1

Matthew John's Bluebirds were soaring high on Saturday after recording a fine home win over St. Ishmaels; the home side winning 3-1 against opponents sitting third place in the league. A Mike Boswell penalty to go alongside scores from Raff Barnett and Morgan Preece was all that was needed to take the points, despite conceding a goal by top striker Adam Davies. The win puts Narberth in fifth position in the division, just two points behind Saturday's opponents, with four games in hand.

Division Two

Pendine 1 Kilgetty 2

Despite fielding a weakened team for the third or fourth week in succession, Pendine gave an excellent account of themselves as they pushed Kilgetty all the way. Given their respective league positions and the fact the Gulls have been struggling for players of late, no-one would have given Pendine a chance in this game and this would certainly have been the case when the visitors scored two early goals from Nick Cope and Geoff Marsh. Pendine were in no mood to surrender, however, and pulled one back via Steve Jones just before half-time. The second half began like the first, with Kilgetty making the early inroads into Pendine's half, but just couldn't put their chances away. Pendine came back late in the game and had opportunities to score, but a couple of fine saves by Dai Lewis saved the day for the visitors, much to the relief of Nicky Cope. "It was a very tough game to be honest. We dominated for the majority of the first half, for large parts of the second and should have put the game to bed, but they came at us hard and almost snatched a draw. I'm just glad we got the win."

Saundersfoot Sports 2 Clarbeston Road 5

Sports boss Chris Jenkins had no complaints after witnessing his team go 5-2 down against the league leaders, saying his team were beaten by much the better side. "They were good. Their finishing was crisp; they were quicker to the ball and were better than us on the day." The visitors took an early two-goal lead, before Ben Gray pulled one back for the home side just before half-time, but a further two scores by Clarbie early in the second shifted the balance back in their favour. Sam Coleman just scored a consolation towards the end, but Clarbeston had already scored their fifth by then, so it mattered little in the end.

Tenby 8 St. Clears 1

Tenby manager Neil Finlay had nothing but praise for his team after watching them dominate proceedings against St. Clears to win 8-1. This was a potentially tricky tie for the home side, given the Saints' improvement over recent weeks, but they had nothing to fear as they played some scintillating football to record such a comfortable win. "We should have scored more really," said Finlay. "We dominated from start to finish and played some great football, much better than we have in recent weeks and that's pleasing." Wayne Boswell was the chief scorer with two goals, while there were goals apiece for Billy Vaughan via the penalty spot, Mark Finlay, Matthew Jones, James McKay, James Thomas and Mo Safin. Division Three

Lawrenny 0 Lamphey 5

Lawrenny endured a miserable afternoon's football against Lamphey going down 5-0. With a number of players missing for various reasons, this was never going to be an easy tie against such accomplished opposition and so it proved as the visitors romped to victory with something to spare. A Mike Davies hat-trick and goals from Jason Oatley and Richard Williams were enough to claim the points, but in truth, it could have been more.

Letterston 4 St. Florence 3

Considering St. Florence had eight regular players missing from their line-up on Saturday, they acquitted themselves well against the leaders and could have snuck a win. Adam Johns was the hero, scoring a fine hat-trick, his third coming from a well-struck penalty in the second half when they were 4-2 down. It was 2-2 at the break, with Johns' first two giving them a 2-0 lead. The home side drew level just before the interval and their form shone through in the second as they scored another two, before John scored his third. "We were expecting to get beaten," said Mark Roberts. "To be honest, it feels like a win, especially with the players we had out. I'm absolutely delighted with the way we played."

Reserve Cup - round two

Carew 3 Hundleton 1

Carew's reserves emulated their first team by going through to the next round of their cup competition following this fine 3-1 win. A superb first half performance saw them go 3-0 up, with Joe Kidney scoring twice and Neil Gregory once. Carew tailed off a little to allow the visitors to nip in for one goal in the second, but it was never in doubt as Carew were good value for their win.

Reserve Division One

St. Ishmaels 2 Narberth 5

Narberth reserves pulled off a famous away victory; famous because they were forced to field four non- regulars for this clash. Even manager Nigel Thomas was forced to play the entire 90 minutes, with Dan Howitt, Dominic Norcross and Jamie Scourfield all playing well despite their lack of match time. It was 1-1 at the interval, with Narberth equalising through the exciting talent of Jordan Williams. 'Tish increased their lead early in the second, then appeared to run out of steam, but Narberth didn't, especially Williams, Josh Layzell and Liam Woodford. Williams and Layzell both finished with two goals to their credit, while Woodford finished with one and Narberth ended up with three unlikely points to their credit.

Reserve Division Two

Hubberston 4 Tenby 1

Tenby reserve team manager Alun Morgan described this result as a 'disaster'. The scoreline suggests a one-sided game, but Morgan is adamant his team created enough chances to get at least a draw, if not to win the game.

"If we had taken our chances, we would have won the game. We didn't play well, but well enough to win it, and a lack of a neutral referee didn't help either." Matthew Broadhurst got Tenby's only goal early in the first as they took the lead, only for the home side to cancel it out before the break, prior to them scoring three goals without reply in the second. Kilgetty 1 Saundersfoot Sports 3

Saundersfoot proved why they are leading this division as they overwhelmed Kilgetty away from home. Kilgetty manager Gareth Gwyther bemoaned his team's lack of fighting spirit, saying "we just didn't turn up and conceded three goals to silly mistakes." The visitors were ruthless in the first half, scoring three goals without reply, before Richard Griffiths pulled one back with 15 minutes to go.

Manorbier UNITED 10 Pendine 2

Manorbier pulled off a remarkable win over league strugglers Pendine, with Paul Maytum being the toast of his team-mates after scoring four goals. Seven of the goals came in the second half, with the first three coming in the first 20 minutes of the match. Pendine did contribute to the game with two goals; the first coming from Richard Pearce and the second from Neil Thompson.

Pembroke Boro 4 Lawrenny 1

If only Lawrenny could have carried on in the second half like they began it. They were completely outplayed in the first and deserved to be 2-1 down at half-time, but when Ian Jenkins pulled one back early in the second it could have been quite different. The visitors managed to dominate for 20 minutes of this half, but failed to keep it going as the Boro came back to score another two goals to put the game beyond doubt.
