Saturday's Senior Cup Final may have brought the curtain down on the Pembrokeshire football season, but a few days earlier, promotion from Division Two was still at stake. Haverfordwest County were the runaway Division Two champions, but Pendine knew that two wins out of two in their re-arranged league fixtures would book a spot in Division One next season. Unfortunately for the Seagulls, it was not to be, as their promotion bid was thwarted by near neighbours St. Clears in a local derby played at Pendine. This meant that, although Pendine finished the season with 48 points, the same number as Solva and Saundersfoot Sports, Solva were promoted on goal difference. Seagulls player/manager Justin Blewitt is already looking forward to next season. He said: "We have had a brilliant season. Our team is very young and all of the boys are staying at the club for next season. "We will aim to go that little bit further next season and everything is looking good for the future of the club." In the first mid-week fixture at home to Hubberston, a goal apiece by Robbie Waters and Luke Ormond gave the Seagulls the lead at half- time. In the second half, Justin Blewitt increased the lead, but a goal from Jeff Smith for the visitors, supplemented by an own goal by Justin Blewitt, set up a testing last 10 minutes. The Seagulls held on to their lead to secure the points, to give an extra edge to the local derby with St. Clears. Two days later, the home match against St. Clears was end-to-end all-action stuff, but no goals were scored before the interval. Eddie Wiggins took advantage of a defensive error to give the Saints the lead, but a foul on Paul Langdon gave the Seagulls the chance to equalise from the penalty spot and Justin Blewitt made no mistake with his spot kick. With the scores level, Pendine pressed forward to try to get the winner, but although they came close to scoring, the exciting match ended in a draw. Pendine Seconds also had something to play for to avoid finishing bottom of Reserve Division Two. It looked a hopeless task when the visitors, Hubberston, were leading by three clear goals with 20 minutes left. Mike Evans had scored twice for the visitors and the other goal had been scored by Leighton Scale. However, goals by Steven Jones, Ashley Eades and Paul Thomas gave the Seagulls a draw in a thrilling climax to the season. In other mid-week matches, Tenby lost away to Merlins Bridge in Division One and Saundersfoot Sports went down at home to Hundleton in Reserve Division Two.
