Division One

Carew 0 Goodwick United 2

Third placed Goodwick United played well for the first 20 minutes but were unable to finish some promising moves. Conditions were poor at the start of the match and deteriorated as the game went on. Carew started to compete and had some opportunities on the break which were not put away. In particular, Richard Bullock and Huw Neale were involved in a couple of chances, but the final pass went astray. Neither side scored in the first half and it became increasing difficult to control the ball. James Dean opened the scoring for United when he picked up a cross from the left to finish in clinical fashion. Car Wainwright came close to equalising for Carew when he ran on to a cross from Haydn Shapcott. Rob Hughes picked up the second goal for the visitors from a move which started with a long goal kick. As Carew's Neil Morgan slipped, Hughes found the back of the net with a speculative cross kick. The win kept Goodwick in touch with the Division One leaders. Narberth 7 Kilgetty 1

After a fairly even first half the Bluebirds gradually took control of this match in the second half and eventually dominated the Kilgetty team. The visitors worked hard during the first 30 minutes and closed down many Narberth attacks. After 18 minutes the Bluebirds took the lead through a goal by Charlie Smith after Wayne Howells had taken a free kick. The ball was picked up by Richard Henton who headed on to Smith who in turn nodded the ball over the line. Within seven minutes the visitors had equalised when striker Mike Beynon curled the ball around Narberth keeper Huw Davies from a goalmouth scramble. A tight period of play followed but the Bluebirds regained the lead shortly before the interval when Richard Nash scored after running on to a through ball from Raff Barnett. Kilgetty suffered a set back before halftime when midfield central defender Luke Reynolds was injured. The opening 15 minutes of the second half were quite tense with both teams looking for an early goal. Narberth made the breakthrough when Marc Hughes headed the ball home from a direct free kick. A solo effort by David Gillard shortly afterwards increased the lead and in effect the two quick goals took the game away from the Kilgetty team. In the last 15 minutes three more goals were added, firstly from Wayne Howells when he drove the ball into the far corner. Then Raff Barnett scored after one of his barn storming runs from the halfway line after he played a one two with Paul Phillips and finally Richard Nash picked up a great cross from David Gillard with a diving header to make it seven. It was a good team performance by Narberth with Mathew Lloyd having an excellent game on the right side of midfield. Kilgetty played well in the first half and could have equalised. However eventually Narberth midfield proved to be too strong and the Bluebirds overpowered Kilgetty in the end.

Tenby 3 Saundersfoot Sports 1

Tenby had the better of this Division One local derby, but the visitors opened the scoring through Danny Caine, with a looping far post header. Both teams tried to get a foothold on the game and following some interplay between the Tenby mid field and the forwards, the ball was released for Ryan Lawrence to finish cooly with a low drive. With scores level at the start of the second half, Tenby gradually got on top, with influential captain James Thomas covering every blade of grass on the pitch. Eventually, Tenby were rewarded with their second goal when Steve Hanlon collected the ball on the right, cut inside and then scored with a left footed shot to the far post. Jack Christopher had caused problems for the Saundersfoot defence and he increased the lead from the penalty spot. James Thomas had ran on to a chip over the Sports defence before the ball was handled. The visitors never gave up and applied some late pressure but Tenby held on the their lead. The Tenby back four of Steve Hanlon, Ben Brooks, Steve Williams and Mark Jones played an important part in securing the result for Tenby. Division Two

St. Clears 0 Pendine 3

The local derby at St. Clears proved to be an excellent game. Mathew Court gave the Seagulls the lead in the first half when he chipped the keeper from outside the box and Pendine skipper Lee Lewis also hit the cross bar from a free kick. After five minutes of the second half a far post header by Simon Evans increased the lead and with ten minutes of the match remaining Simon Evans picked up his second goal of the match for the visitors with a near post header. The Seagulls probably put in their best performance of the season and the win was the result of a good team effort with everyone giving 100%. Pendine came close to scoring a fourth goal when Wesley Reynolds hit the posts. The Saints did not have too many chances and the early goal by Mathew Court helped the Pendine cause. Both teams battled hard but the Seagulls deserved to win and the early goals at the start of each half also proving to be decisive. Unfortunately for the Saints, nothing quite worked out on the day.

Division Three

Haverfordwest CC 5 St. Florence United 2

Seven goals were scored at the Racecourse but the cricketers had the upper hand eventually to win this mid table battle. Jamie Roberts struck twice for the Saints but both David Davies and John Ryan scored two a piece for the Cricketers who secured a fifth through Danny Potter.

Manorbier United 1 Pembroke United 6

Manorbier were involved in yet another top of the table clash but Division Three leaders Pembroke United had the better of this game and ended up comfortable winners. Liam Stapleton and Craig Asparasa both scored twice backed up by goals from Paul Sly and Liam Robson. Bruce Tasker was the solitary goal scorer for Manorbier when he clawed one goal back to reduce the deficit to two goals. Manorbier tried in vain to score further goals, but the young Pembroke teams scored three late goals to seal a convincing win. Bruce Tasker was the pick of the Manorbier players on the day.

Templeton 0 St. David's City 3

Templeton's bad run continued with a defeat at home to the visitors from St. David's City. Play was pretty even for the first half an hour although the pitch started to cut up and there was a lot of surface water. Five minutes before the interval Lee Phillips gave the visitors the lead when he finished off a move which had started down the right. Conditions deteriorated in the second half but the game continued and in the last 15 minutes City struck twice with goals from Sean Ellison and Toby Johnson. No one stood out for Templeton on the day and City deserved to win after adapting more readily to the conditions.

Reserve Division One

Camrose 2 Tenby 3

There was little to choose between the two teams in the first half. Mark Owen gave Camrose the lead with a long shot into the top corner but Wayne Callen equalised for Tenby when he scored after receiving the ball from a free kick taken by Johnny Badrock. Just before the interval Camrose had a player sent off for dissent. At the start of the second half Camrose finished off a good move with a goal by Ian Cahill when out striped the Tenby defence. Slowly Tenby came back into the game, opportunities were created but not finished. However Johnny Badrock eventually equalised with a good shot from the edge of the box. In the last ten minutes Phil Spindlove gave Tenby the winner with a superb solo goal, which nudged Tenby in front. In the last few minutes of the match three players were sent off. On the first occasion a player from each team had his marching orders and later another Camrose player was a red card leaving the home team with just eight players on the field. However it was not a physical game. For Tenby Nick Webster-Smith did an excellent job acting as standing goalkeeper.

Goodwick United 3 Narberth 1

Narberth's lead at the top of the table has been eroded in recent weeks and on Saturday they suffered their third defeat of the season. It was one of those days were the Bluebirds failed to perform and Goodwick United took full advantage of the situation. In fairness the Bluebirds came close to scoring in a number of times in the first half with both Daniel James and Adi Jones forcing good saves from the Goodwick keeper. Just before the interval Nicky Rowlands gave the Goodwick team the lead. At the start of the second half the Bluebirds paid the penalty of failing to clear the ball from a corner and Steve Lewis increased the lead for United. With ten minutes of the match remaining Narberth fought back when Adi Jones scored with a header from a corner but with five minutes of the match remaining Darren John made the game safe for Goodwick from the penalty spot. A number of midfield players were missing from Narberth such as Adrian Howells and James Bennett but generally it was a below par performance.

Kilgetty 2 Carew 5

Although the conditions were wet and sticky the standard of play by the players of both teams was very good. Kilgetty mounted a number of earlier attacks and Carew keeper Mathew Lewis pulled off some good saves. After 15 minutes Phil Jones gave the visitors the lead when he picked up the ball bouncing around from a free kick on the left and scored inside the far post. No further goals were scored in the first half although Nick Cope had a shot blocked for Kilgetty whilst both Seb Palin and Phil Jones had a number of dangerous runs for the visitors. At the start of the second half Nick Scourfield extended the lead for Carew when he tapped the ball in after a move by Seb Palin down the left. Shortly afterwards Kilgetty had an opportunity to score when Anthony Bevan was brought down in the box after a good run. Bevan took the penalty himself but Mathew Lewis did well to save. Kilgetty forced a number of corners and Jamie Bessant reduced the Carew lead when he scored from an overhead kick inside the far post. Within minutes Carew had bounced back again when Phil Jones finished off a move by Seb Palin and Palin himself scored shortly afterwards with a brilliant individual effort from inside his own half. Phil Jones completed a fine hat trick when his shot from 18 yards went over the head of advancing keeper Barry Ormond. Kilgetty had not given up the ghost and once again Mathew Lewis was called into action to save shots from Nick Cope and Shamsul Ali. In the last five minutes Nick Cope picked up the second goal for Kilgetty. It was a good team effort for Carew. Phil Jones has made a difference to the Carew team with the quality of his finishing and Seb Palin was creative on the left side of midfield. For Kilgetty the father and son partnership of Andrew and Nick Cope caused problems from time to time, Gary Cunningham had some good runs down the left and Jamie Bessant was solid at the back.

Saundersfoot Sports 1 Herbrandston 8

Struggling Saundersfoot found Herbrandston too much of a handful and conceded eight goals and were only able to score one goal in reply. Reserve Division Two

Lawrenny 3 Pembroke Boro 0 Lawrenny controlled the game in the first half and scored three times, as an excellent hat trick by Wayne James helped Lawrenny to their fifth win of the season. The first and third goals were the result of goal mouth scrambles and the second came when James ran on to an overhead kick by Steve James. All of the goals came from counter attacks and Wayne James could have scored four in total, but he missed out on a penalty kick! In the second half, Boro fought back strongly, but the Lawrenny defence held firm. Kyle Roberts made some good saves in goal for Lawrenny and the finishing by Wayne James of the highest quality.

Pendine v Manorbier

Unfortunately this match was postponed as the Pendine pitch was waterlogged.
