The work of several home-based food producers has been recognised in the latest Pembrokeshire Produce Mark Awards.
The awards, now in their third year, were presented on Tuesday morning, the first day of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Show in Haverfordwest.
Pembrokeshire County Council launched the Produce Mark six years and it has since gone from strength to strength with over 300 registered users.
The Produce Mark is an easily recognisable logo designed to identify purveyors of Pembrokeshire foods and crafts. It offers the country's produce a unique identity in the market place.
This year's trio of winning outlets were adjudged to have made the most effective use of the Produce Mark, using it to brand their products and increase sales.
The winners were:
• Robert Gibby, of Llais Bethesda Milk, near Narberth.
• Waegn and Annie Cole, of Pantri Nolewnn, Trecwn.
• Steve and Kathryn Bradbury and Geraint and Sian Bowen, of Bethesda Fresh Farm Meats, near Narberth.
For the past 12 months, farmer Robert Gibby has been producing pasteurised milk and cream from an organic herd of cows on his farm in Bethesda. He has a small dairy on the farm and sells mainly around the South Pembrokeshire area, to local retailers and catering establishments.
Pantri Nolewnn is the husband and wife team of Waegn and Annie Cole. Waegn is a French-Canadian and his spouse, a Breton.
Their sphere is the production of totally organic and vegan speciality breads, pates, cakes and biscuits using mainly spelte flour and utilising the traditions and cooking influences from their respective countries.
The couple are keen supporters of local sustainability and sell direct at markets, farmers' markets and food fairs. They also supply specialist and wholefood shops and delis.
Two neighbouring couples run Bethesda Fresh Farm Meats. Steve and Kathryn Bradbury and Geraint and Sian Bowen work in partnership selling meat from their own stock or from other local farms. Geraint is the butcher of the business and all meat, including beef, lamb and pork, is fully traceable, cut, packed and labelled on site.
The quartet also cure their own bacon, ham and gammon, and make their own sausages. They sell direct from the farm and also operate a 'to-the-door' delivery service in the Mid-Pembrokeshire area.
All the winners were presented with their awards at a special breakfast in the County Show food hall by the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Mickey Folland.
