NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Pembroke agency recently nominated local charity Megan’s Starr Foundation to receive a donation of over £6,000 from NFU Mutual’s national £1.92million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

The leading rural insurer has launched this fund, now in its third year, to help local frontline charities across the country. The Agency Giving Fund forms part of NFU Mutual’s £3.25m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2022, to help tackle the ongoing effects of the pandemic and assist with recovery.

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 295 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

This donation has enabled The Megan’s Starr Foundation to continue the vital work that they do in the community of Pembrokeshire to support young people with mental health issues and bullying. The young people they help come from a wide range of backgrounds, and this donation will provide the chance to provide them with support they may not otherwise recieve.

Appointed Representative for NFU Mutual in Pembroke, Paula Robins, said:

“NFU Mutual has been a champion of rural communities the length and breadth of the UK for over 110 years, and the Agency Giving Fund champions local causes that are working day and night to change people’s lives and give hope for a better future. We’re extremely proud to have nominated Megan’s Starr Foundation for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community.”

Mrs Nicola Harteveld, Founder of Megan’s Starr Foundation, said:

“We are so very grateful to receive the sum of £6,379 from the NFU Agency Giving Fund. This donation will enable us to continue the vital work that we do in the community of Pembrokeshire. It will fund over 100 hours of free mental health counselling sessions for young people, as well as provide a plethora of opportunities for young people to participate in group activities that help with confidence and self-esteem. This donation will absolutely change young people’s lives for the better.”
