Local authority employees and workers in the health service recently had a reason to celebrate national Learning at Work Day at the Conference Centre, Withybush General Hospital. A 'Celebration of Learning' was held to congratulate all the learners - from Pembrokeshire County Council and the Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust - on their achievements. TULiP (Trade Union Learning in Partnership) awarded certificates to a number of employees who had attended training over the past 18 months. Pembrokeshire County Council cabinet member, Clr. David Wildman and Janet Wilkinson, director of human resources for the NHS Trust, thanked everyone for their support and involvement in the TULiP project, which had helped it to become such a success. Taster sessions were on offer to those who wanted to try out their artistic skills, languages and new ways of keeping fit, and advice and guidance on training were available from local providers. The TULiP Project was recently awarded a further two years of funding by the Welsh Assembly Government to bring new learning opportunities to employees and their families. Information Technology, Welsh in the Workplace and Count the Calories are among some of the courses available. The project is a partnership project between UNISON, Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust and is funded until March, 2007.
