Yorkshire Building Society is calling on people in Tenby to give their favourite charity a cash boost as part of a new community initiative designed to support good causes locally.
Charity Choices is being rolled out across five branches in Wales, with each branch giving away a share of £1,000 to 15 local charities.
The scheme will launch in the Tenby branch on Tudor Square, today (Friday), when existing customers and members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite of three charities to receive a cash donation.
Thanks to nominations from staff and customers at the branch, the three local charities set to benefit are:
Age Concern Pembrokeshire - working with the elderly within the community to support with a wide range of activities.
Friends of Pembrokeshire Schools' Orchestras - providing support for musical activities for children in education.
Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastics Club -advancing the physical education, health and development of young people with special needs in Pembrokeshire.
The number of votes received by each charity by Saturday, July 13, will determine the amount of money each receives; the one with the most will receive £500, second place £300 and in third place £200.
The initiative is being supported by the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation, which is funded by another of the Yorkshire's innovative community schemes. Small Change, Big Difference sees members donate the pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts, just once a year, before nominating charities that are close to their hearts to receive support.
Sian Rees, Tenby branch manager, said: "Pennies make pounds and small change can make a big difference to local charities. The three charities benefiting are all important to our local community and it's great that it's our members and local residents that have the ultimate say on where the money goes - we hope everyone will take the opportunity to come into the branch during the launch to make their vote count."
