A couple of hundred Army Cadets from the county will spend 10 days in August at a West Country fort that housed American D-Day soldiers and was featured in a recent BBC television programme.
The county's annual Summer Camp is being held this year at Tregantle Fort, from where hundreds of American servicemen left for the Normandy beaches 60 years ago.
The 19th century fort will be the base, along with a nearby ruined fort, for a week-and-a-half of adventure. The camp will include such activities as sailing and canoeing, as well as the more military type of activities.
