A LIST of local authors and artists are getting together tomorrow (Saturday) for a string of book signings to mark the re-opening of Tenby Bookshop.

"The idea is to invite as many as possible of our local authors, artists and suppliers, who will be bringing along copies of their publications for signing and sale, as we wish to celebrate their talent, and also the fact that we have a large local interest and Welsh section, to set us apart from the likes of Amazon," said the shop's owner Julie Jones.

The Bookshop, situated on Tudor Square, has been closed for the last fortnight for a major refurbishment, refit and decoration.

Among the invitees to the re-opening are Tenby's own Lance Russell, author of 'The Encyclopedia Man' and Nicky Lloyd, whose latest release, 'The Strength to be Gentle and Kind', features a new collection of poems and short stories.

John Davies, who at 82 years of age published his first book, 'Farming for Better Profitability', this year, will also be at the event, along with James Hedley Phillips, writer of 'Pembrokeshire Trilogy - Volume 1 - Tales of the Sea', and John Woodcock, author of 'Tenby Shops 1870-1970'.

Photographers Anna Davies, Rachael, of Pembrokeshire Moments, and Ross Grieve will also be in attendance, along with the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.

As well as the book-signings, there will be prizes for customers, Welsh singing from local schoolchildren, Welsh cakes, and the possibility of a 'celebrity' author (as yet unconfirmed) to carry out the official opening, which will take place at 12 noon, with all welcome to attend.
