Pembrokeshire County Council has issued a warning over a ‘council tax’ scam, targeting local residents.
A spokesperson for PCC stated today (June 23): “The Council has been notified that some Pembrokeshire residents have received an email with the subject ‘We're writing to you about what seems to be an unprocessed council tax payment.’
“It then claims that the recipient has an unpaid balance on their Council Tax Account and asks them to click a link to ‘check’.
“The email is signed off ‘Local Taxation Authority’.
“We can confirm this email is a scam and has not been sent by Pembrokeshire County Council.
“All Pembrokeshire County Council emails include @pembrokeshire.gov.uk in the email address.
“Never click on any link or provide any details to an email you are unsure of. You should never open any attachments included or reply to the sender,” they added.
You can forward any email you have concerns over to [email protected] for investigation.
