In response to a talk by Luke Treharne from the Tenby and Saundersfoot Community First Responders to members of Tenby and District Lions Club, the members decided that this was a very worthy community project and deserved their support. They had no hesitation in agreeing to donate £1,000 to the First Responders for the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The First Responders means what it says. Their members, who are all volunteers, are trained in emergency first aid and get to the scene before any ambulance. Once the ambulance arrives, they hand over to the paramedics.

To assist them in their efforts to keep patients alive until the ambulance/doctor arrives, the First Responders are installing AEDs at strategic points around Tenby and Saundersfoot.

The First Responders rely on donations from the public, as well as their own fund-raising to provide the defibrillators and Tenby and District Lions are very pleased to be able to assist the First Responders in their efforts to preserve life.

The photo shows the AED which was donated by the Lions Club installed outside the Giltar Hotel on The Esplanade, Tenby. Tenby and District Lions have also recently donated £250 to Saundersfoot Athletic Football Club towards the repair of their playing fields which were damaged by parking on them at a major event in the town.
