Sir,

Some months ago you published a letter from me, objecting to the proposal to floodlight part of the town walls on grounds which can be summarised as: Aesthetics (let us keep some air of mystery), green issues (we should minimise use of electricity), light pollution (I would rather see the stars) and expense (presumably running costs would be met from the local Council Tax precept, already by far the highest in the country). In the following weeks, at least 11 people brought the topic up in conversation, with no prompting from me, and all of them said they agreed with me whole-heartedly. Not a single person spoke against my views. There was no response whatsoever from any council members. I think this demonstrates that the people of Tenby do not want this scheme, and I urge the Town Council to get more in step with the wishes of the electorate they purport to represent.

Trisha Putwain, Tenby.
