Sir,

Bah humbug! It was sad to read in last week's paper of the objections by the Tenby Walled Town Residents Association to the new lighting scheme in St. Julian Street. Sad that a small minority of residents think they can bully the elected town council. Sad that that particular group just objects to initiatives by others and fails to make any positive contribution to the life of the town. And sad that they can forget that Tenby depends for its livelihood on its visitors, who are undoubtedly attracted by the more festive atmosphere induced by the lights.

St. Julian Street is of course a mixed commercial and residential street, and is the main road down to the heart of Tenby, the harbour.

I say well done Tenby Town Council, and I for one shall strongly object if the promised review of the lighting scheme results in a climbdown to the nimby 'crachach' of St. Julian Street.             Mike Thorne, Tenby.
