Tenby's new state-of-the-art Tamar class lifeboat will be arriving in the town around March of next year, rather than the end of this year as originally planned. "At the moment our engineering team is fine tuning some of the on-board electronics systems, and I understand this work will soon be completed," said David Rendell, public relations officer. "Following this we will begin training the crew in the New Year. Finally, once the training is completed, the Tenby crew will want to test properly the lifeboat's capabilities before taking her to her new home." Mr. Rendell added: "While we are disapointed that there has been a delay, it should be stressed that the RNLI would much rather make sure everything was 100 per cent ship-shape before any lifeboat becomes operational." The Tyne class lifeboat, the RFA Sir Galahad, remains at Tenby for the time being, providing full operational cover as always.
