Last Wednesday, Tenby Bridge Club held their annual general meeting and are proud to announce that Mr. Kevin Thomas was made 'life president'.

A proposal was made in order to grant this special honour as an acknowledgement of his 30 years service to bridge in Pembrokeshire and in particular Tenby Bridge Club.

It was a delight to witness Kevin accept this well deserved accolade!

It was also an evening to thank another two members of the committee who were both standing down this year.

Mr. Peter Oeppen has been the chairman for the past two years, and all members wished him well for his future role in Tenby Rotary next year. Mr. Oeppen was presented with a 'nice' bottle of wine, and will be sorely missed in this role.

Mr. Doug Silcox has been the treasurer for 11 years, and has decided to 'hang up his boots!' He will be a great loss to the committee as he has been a wonderful and loyal treasurer, and also held down many other positions within the club. A 'thank you' card was signed by over 40 members who attended the AGM, and he was presented with a gift voucher, which he was most grateful for. Thank you Doug, for everything!

After a lovely buffet and a couple of glasses of wine, all members sat down to play an 11-table movement, and the results were as follows:

Top North/South - joint 1. Barry Thorne and Ann Dassen and Wendy Thornton and Wally Heaton 58.06 per cent; 3. Bill Glynn and Rosie Taylor 56.20; 4. Richard and Margaret Caley 54.72.

Top East/West - 1. Steve Jarvis and Mike Baker 64.90 per cent; 2. John and Jill O'Sullivan 62.37; 3. Mike and Joy Whitelock 55.05; 4. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 54.80.

Friday, March 29: A six-table movement was in play and the results were - 1. Ashleigh Scrimshaw and Anthony Stevens 59.26 per cent; 2. Joy and Mike Whitelock 58.85; 3. Kevin Thomas and Liz Crockford 57.29; joint 4. Ray Bowen and Celia Rossiter and Mike Taylor and Pam Evans 51.04.
