Licensed premises in Pendine and St Clears are the two latest businesses in Carmarthenshire to be handed closure notices for breaching Covid-19 regulations.
Both Pendine’s Beach Hotel and St Clears’ Santa Clara pub were ordered to close over the weekend for 14 days for not adhering to current guidelines.
Back in March the Santa Clara pub was visited by police and representatives from Carmarthenshire County Council after it transpired that the premises had gone against government guidelines after the landlord opened up the establishment to friends during the lockdown.
The pub’s landlord was caught serving alcohol twice in one day during lockdown, ignoring Covid-19 safety regulations by inviting people to the bar nine days after the country went into lockdown.
The landlord was subsequently fined for going against government guidelines and given a fixed penalty notice by police, however the county’s licensing committee stopped short of stripping the landlord and the premises of its licence, and instead they imposed a range of strict conditions, including a demand for CCTV cameras to be installed on both entrance and exit.
The Beach Hotel located in Pendine informed customers on its Facebook page ahead of the weekend that it would ‘unfortunately’ be closed until further notice, after the premises was found to be breaking Covid regulations.
“We apologise deeply to all of our loyal customers for the inconvenience, we are working hard make the correct measures so we are able to open back up as soon as possible - we can’t say an exact date, but we’ll let you know as soon as we can! Thank you all for understanding, stay safe." - stated the post.
