An application for a new premises licence for a nightclub in Tenby's Upper Frog Street has been given the thumbs down by town councillors.

The application submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council's licensing department by the owners of the Prince of Wales seeking an increase to the trading hours, came before town councillors again at their meeting on Tuesday night.

Previously they had raised concerns over the increase in hours leading to more possible noise nuisance for residents of the street, while they also felt that too many smokers were gathering outside the premises, adding to the noise factor.

"They certainly haven't dealt with the issue of people smoking outside the entrance, it's very intimidating for anyone walking by," said Clr. Mrs. Sandra Williams.

In objecting to the application, councillors also felt that the extra hours were excessive.
