Plans for a proposed extension to provide extra facilities at Tenby Leisure Centre have been welcomed by local councillors.

The scheme submitted by Pembrokeshire County Council came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night, who recommended approval for the application to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, whose development management committee will eventually determine the proposals.

The plans, will see an extension to the front of the existing leisure centre located on Marsh Road, to provide a gym, as well as a refurbishment of the building, including realignment of the access road.

After viewing the application plans, Tenby Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, said that she welcomed the scheme.

"Anything that upgrades the facility so that it increases people wanting to train in Tenby is a good thing," she commented, with her colleague Clr. Mike Evans, calling the project an 'unbelievable opportunity'.

"It would be worthwhile for this town council to display the plans in our offices, so that the people of the town can view the exciting new plans," he said.

Councillors voted in favour of recommending approval for the application.
