Recently, as part of the Regional Essential Skills project, which is part funded by the European Social Fund through the Convergence Programme 2007-2013, employees from Park House Court Nursing Home in Tenby, celebrated their success in gaining their OCR Essential Skills Communication qualifications at Level 1 and 2.

Through partnership working with the Royal College of Nursing, the South Wales WEA RES project was able to provide a contextualised learning programme, which enabled the learners to improve their literacy skills, through their everyday work.

The project offers numerous free courses to the employed and self-employed across Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot, to improve their literacy, numeracy, ESOL and ICT skills.

The ladies from Tenby are just a sample of over 80 people in Pembrokeshire alone, who have gained qualifications and learning credits with the South Wales WEA.
