'Launch Learning' is an exciting new project based in the community of Monkton to provide relevant training and courses.

The first Launch training was a Site Safety Pass course held this week at the Community Centre in Monkton.

The pass will provide students with the opportunity to take advantage of any job opportunities available at the Valero refinery in the forthcoming planned shutdown, and at other refineries in Pembrokeshire.

Even before this course was advertised, it was filled and another course will be offered very soon. The course was free to all participants.

Launch Learning will run courses, training and offer support to anyone from the local community of Monkton and the Communities First areas in Pembrokeshire, including Pembroke and Pembroke Dock.

Courses will be aimed at supporting adults to access the job market. They will be designed to meet a wide range of learners needs, from basic skills courses and IT courses to many accredited courses, including a foundation degree in Education and Social Inclusion.

The courses or workshops will be held at Monkton School, as well as other community venues.

Launch Learning is funded by the school, the Priory Traveller Project and Communities First. It works in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council Learning Pembrokeshire, Pembrokeshire College, Trinity St. David University, Genesis and Plant Dewi.

If you are interested in any of the courses, please contact Kellie Bellmaine at Launch on 01646 685685 or 07500 951858 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
