This week's fixture for Tenby United Youth was home against Fishguard and Goodwick. The match resulted in a hard fought draw, with both sides scoring two tries.

Tenby went into the lead with a first half try from Sam Smith, who had a powerful presence throughout.

Mark Stevens was having an excellent game until he was injured before half-time and had to leave the field. The number 10 position was very ably filled by James Davies, and Nick Guymer moved to centre.

Tenby took some time to settle with these changes, and Fishguard ran in a good try, using the full width of the pitch, just before the interval.

Tenby started the second half well, with some powerful running and support work from the pack, in particular Steve Ive, Johnny Lane, Geoff Martin and Andrew Davies.

Both sides were well matched and a fine smothering tackle from Tom Page saved a certain try. Unfortunately, the referee judged the tackle to be a bit high.

Rhys Bromby supplied some good lineout possession and Aled Griffiths fed the ball wide for powerful centre John Sheasby to score the second try.

Tenby suffered a further setback when skipper Harry Bolton, who was playing his usual captain's game, leading from the front and doing a tremendous amount of work, had to leave the field due to an injury. There were no substitutes available and when Tenby lost a further player due to a sending-off, it was down to the remaining players to withstand a lot of pressure from Fishguard, which they did for some time, showing a lot of courage and determination.

However, the pressure eventually led to a last minute try to tie the game, which was probably a fair result

Next game for the Youth will be at home against Llangwm on November 9.
