Matters discussed at the June meeting of Lampeter Velfrey Community Council included: Work to resurface/surface dress the roads within the community were to be completed in due course: • C3026 re-dressed Templeton to Tavernspite. • Behind Tavernspite school to be rebuilt and surface dressed. • Road from the Narberth Road junction to the crematorium to be resurfaced. • Clr. Simpson was pushing for the road to be resurfaced between the crematorium and Llanmill. The council expressed disappointment that work was not to be extended to Llanmill and further. • Black and white marker posts were to be installed along the open ditch at Ludchurch. • The grass at the crematorium had been cut earlier than usual. • The 'no fouling' dog signs had been installed. • The banks at Lwynpinner Fach were to be cut back to avoid any blind bends. • The sign stating 'bends for half a mile' would be moved (again!) to a more appropriate position. Some positive outcomes and some not quite so positive, but the community council thanked Clr. Simpson for all his efforts to bring some long outstanding matters to a positive conclusion. The council were misinformed as to who was actually applying for three more 'O' licences recently. It was, in fact, A and C Aggregates and not G. D. Harries. The council apologises for any inconvenience. It should also be made known that the large stones that fell from a passing lorry did not come from Blaencilgoed Quarry or a G. D. Harries lorry. Again, apologies for any distress this may have caused. Cars were still being parked on the highway at the bottleneck entry into Lampeter Velfrey, despite the matter being discussed at a previous meeting and being highlighted in the last newsletter. However, the matter of refuse being left out overnight appeared to have resolved itself. A positive result. The clerk sent a letter of congratulations to Clr. Eric Feetham, of Narberth Town Council, on his award of the MBE. Councillors were given a copy of the proposed route for the gas pipeline. Concerns were raised with regard to its siting, but council was informed that if land owners did not give up their land for the pipeline to be laid, compulsory purchase orders would be issued. One positive result from this was that no building work could be carried out within certain parameters of the piping without reinforcing the foundations of the structures. The open public meeting began with no members of the public in attendance. The clerk read the brief minutes of the 2004 meeting to members and issues raised had been addressed by council. Some positive, some not so positive: • The open ditch at Ludchurch had been addressed. • The sign stating 'passing bay' had been installed at Crooked Meadow, Ludchurch. • The suggestion of a road for use by HGVs from the quarries to the TRA 477 was not a possibility. • The issues raised regarding roads in the community had been addressed. • The parking outside Tavernspite School had been addressed. • No footpath could be laid between Tavernspite Garden Centre and Ash Lane. • Other footpath requests had been put to Pembs. County Council and when funds became available they may well be addressed. The community council would address these issues again in the future. The council had already been assured that the footpath between Tair Ffynnon/Lime Grove and the B4314 would be laid to rolled stone. However, if residents met with Pembs. County Council Community regeneration team and Lampeter Velfrey made a small donation towards costs, the footpath could be laid to tarmac and street lighting installed. It was agreed that the footpath should be made good and action would be taken in the near future to bring the matter to a positive conclusion. Pembs. County Council had purchased a mobile flashing 'slow 40mph' sign. It would target six areas in Pembrokeshire. Pentlepoir was one area to be targeted and Clr. Simpson requested that Tavernspite be added to the list. This had been done and council thanked Clr. Simpson for his efforts to bring matters highlighted to a satisfactory conclusion. Planning applications received and considered included: Widen entrance to make vehicle access - 6 Mount Pleasant, Tavernspite. No objection. Demolition of sub-standard house and re-siting and rebuilding of dwelling house - Ty Cornel, Lampeter Velfrey. No objection. Alteration and extension - Pinner Cottage, Parc Pinner, Whitland. No objection. Erection of one dwelling - land adjacent to Green Grove, Princes Gate. No objection. A request was made for a new notice board for Princes Gate. The clerk was to organise this in due course.
