A PRESENTATION luncheon was held by the West Wales region of the Lady Taveners last Thursday.
Among the 50 invited guests, were the Mayor and Mayoress of Haverfordwest, Mr. and Mrs. D. Westrop, Clr. and Mrs. D. Folland and celebrities, Glamorgan cricketer Steve Watkins and actress Lynne Miller.
They were there to present a specialised 17-seater minibus to the Pembrokeshire College.
Mr. Barry Walters, the assistant principal, received the keys from Steve Watkins. He said how beneficial the bus would be in providing transport for disabled students, so that they could participate in activities such as riding at the Bowlings Riding School.
Regional chairwoman of the Lady Taveners, Jane Kemp, pointed out that the bus had the name of the Texaco Pembroke Plant on the rear doors, as a way of acknowledging the tremendous support Texaco had given to the charity.
Lynne Miller presented Jo Phillips with a cheque for £3,000 for Haverfordwest's Fenton School new infant special unit. This allowance was the total needed for multi sensory equipment.
Steve Watkins then presented a cheque for £500 to Jonathon Twigg, from the Pembrokeshire Behavioural Support Services, for sports equipment for the youngsters.
Both recipients expressed their delight at receiving the grants.
Since the West Wales region began in 1999, they have raised £20,000 for the charity, with over £60,000 coming back to help disabled and special needs children in the area.
