TENBY LADIES 4 PEMBROKE 0

Tenby, looking to continue their recent improvement in form, faced Pembroke in the Pembrokeshire Ladies Hockey League last Sunday.

Pembroke took the initiative from the pass back, with Tenby slow to react to their attempts to take shots on goal.

After this initial period of uncertainty, Tenby passed with more accuracy and notched their first goal through a penalty corner, from which Kate struck at goal and Mandy followed up to score off the rebound.

This seemed to settle Tenby and they dominated the remainder of the first half, with further goals from Lucy in open play, on her reverse stick, and from Annie R in the centre, who caught hold of a penetrating cross from Mandy on the left and, finding herself in space, struck the ball into the far right-hand corner, to make the half-time score 3-0.

Pembroke applied the opening pressure in the second half, attacking the goal, and producing two consecutive saves from Annie L.

Then the heavens opened and the teams came off the pitch due to the umpire being unable to see the ball properly!

When play restarted, Pembroke battled on, showing some dogged determination, and were awarded three penalty corners. Unfortunately for them, the Tenby defence held and cleared the ball up field.

Barney crossed it into the Pembroke 'D' and, following a touch by Mandy, it found Lucy, who swept the ball into the back of the net to leave a full-time score of 4-0.
