Two members of Ladies Circle are taking on a mammoth challenge to raise money for The Brain Tumour Trust.

Cat Salt, 37 and Kirsty Willing, 45 are attempting to walk 140 miles coast to coast from Grimsby to Liverpool over seven days. They started on Saturday and are walking on average nine hours a day the pair aim to raise over £2000 for The Brain Tumour Charity. During the challenge, the girls will pass through places such as Hyde, Doncaster and Sheffield on their way to their finishing point in Liverpool.

The logistics and route of the walk have been devised and arranged by Cat and Kirsty, along with the help of their fellow circlers across the UK. From supporting with bag transportation to overnight stays, the community of the organisation are fully behind the pair to help them achieve this amazing challenge.

Speaking about the challenge Cat Salt said: “Kirsty and I met through Ladies Circle and back in June 2015 we decided we needed to do a challenge, even then I don’t think we thought we would do something this big. I am an experienced walker, but was diagnosed with Lyme Disease two years ago. I want to prove to myself that Lyme Disease isn’t it and that I am still me.”

“Kirsty is a novice walker and has lost five stone preparing for this challenge and has become a lot fitter as a result. We are so proud of the help and support that has been offered to us by Ladies Circle and Round Tablers, we are a really strong community who stand together to help others.”

The Brain Tumour Charity has been chosen as it is the charity of the year for Ladies Circle national president, Ginette May. The charity is a personal choice as fellow circler Gemma Vincent was diagnosed with a grade three, 6cm meningioma, the size of a small orange in 2009. Following 10 hours of surgery, Gemma is still with us today and is helping to support the walkers.

Speaking about the challenge national president Ginette May said: “I am super proud of the girls as I know what a huge challenge this is. I am especially grateful as they are raising funds for a great charity whilst receiving support from our wonderful members of this fantastic organisation. This challenge sums up what we are all about.”

Ladies Circle is a national organisation for women aged between 18-45 and Round Table is the male counterpart. The organisations are there for people to make friends, have fun, but also to support communities and come together to help others. Circlers and Tablers up and down the UK help in their communities everyday whilst promoting friendship and having a load of fun at the same time.
