The final curtain came down for the Templeton and District Ladies Choir in the church hall last Friday. They met for the last time to distribute the remainder of their bank balances to their favourite charities.

Before they presented their cheques the ladies had arranged a buffet which proved very popular with all present.

Afterwards, Mrs. Vera Norton (chairperson) opened the proceedings by saying she was not making a long speech since everyone had mixed feelings about the evening as it brought to an end years of entertaining and happiness. During its time the choir had helped to raise many thousands of pounds for various organisations and charities and had also received many donations form a variety of sources.

The choir decided that the money it had left should go to the four organisations who were present. Although sad that the 30 years of entertainment had ended, the choir hoped that the money would bring happiness to others.

The first presentation was given by Mrs. Peggy Morgan (the well loved conductor) to Rev. Tom Owen for the League of Friends, Withybush Hospital.

This was followed by Mrs. Mair Davies (secretary) to Mrs. Rosemary Hayes for the Noah's Art Appeal.

Mrs. June Mathias (accompanist) presented a cheque to Mrs. Janet Thomas for the Macmillan Nurses and to Mrs. Joan Mathias for the Paul Sartori organisation.

Also present was Mrs. Sheila Edwards, a former member of the choir, who had designed and painted two beautiful plates as a thank you from the choir to Mrs. Peggy Morgan and Mrs. June Mathias.

The choir joined up for the last time, to sing a selection of favourite pieces, under their conductor, and say goodnight and goodbye to their guests.
